Allison + Thomas – Edmonton Wedding Photographer

Allison & Thomas first met at the Ukrainian Cultural Village east of Edmonton where they both worked as guides and interpreters. Soon Thomas began picking Allison up to car pool to work and their love blossomed from there. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when Allison & Thomas said their ‘I Dos’ in front of friends and family at St. Anthony’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in West Edmonton. Their day was filled with love, laughter and a few tears. Special thanks to Angela for assisting Sarah and I again on this wedding.

I started the day at Allison’s parent’s house while Sarah and Angela headed downtown to photograph the guys getting ready before heading over to the church.

In this digital world that we live in, it’s so nice to go into someone’s home and see actual photographs on the wall. As a photographer it warms our heart to see family photographs proudly displayed instead of just hiding out on a computer.

Edmonton Wedding Photographers - Bride Getting into her dress

Sarah and Angela headed over to the guy’s place to catch them getting ready before they headed to the church for the wedding ceremony. Thomas was sporting some really nice custom cufflinks.

Allison & Thomas’s Ukrainian Orthodox ceremony was held at St. Anthony’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in West Edmonton. We’ve photographed a few Orthodox weddings before but each one always has it’s own special touches and unique aspects that make photographing weddings always interesting and exciting.

After their ceremony, we had planned to go to the University of Alberta for formal photographs of the family and of the wedding party but Mother Nature had different plans. Fortunately we had planned on using the studio for backup so we headed back downtown to the studio to photograph the family and create a few images of the bridal party – including the bride and groom of course.

After doing some photographs in the studio, the rain finally let up and we were able to stick with our plan of finish up the bridal party formals on Edmonton’s High Level Streetcar. This was the first time I’ve ridden on it so it was a fun experience to go over North Saskatchewan River on top of the High Level Bridge. When he worked at the Ukrainian Cultural Village, Thomas drove the train so it was only fitting that we captured some photographs of him wearing the conductors hat.

After we were done riding the street car, we walked over to the Matrix hotel for their reception where Allison & Thomas celebrated surrounded by close friends and family.

Thank you again for choosing us to be your wedding photographers and we look forward to sharing the rest of your images with you!
